CHAPTER NO: THREE

The thought of Rajesh embittered her mind who’s her bête noire (detested person) and impotent to consummate her. But except this foible, in other matters, he was a true husband. As the destiny drove him to USA, he had a new association and was enticed by the doctrine of hedonism and Stella was an instrument to accomplish his long cherished desire. He converted into Christianity and made shrift in the church for chucked the relationship off Shyamala.

“I know your association with Rajesh is an engramma but our new lease of life will eradicate the old melancholy thoughts.” Baskar comforted her.

It took some time to restore to normalcy and when she recovered her courage she directed him to look into their second plan. When Baskar nodded, both went to the Temple dedicated to Lord Shiva which was perched at the top of the hill.

It’s an ancient temple dedicated to God Meganatha Swamy (Lord Shiva) and Goddess Lalitha Devi.

Prior to renovation of this temple, it was under the control of a hooligan, TMK patty fellow who was swindling the collection amount from hundial and engaged in scandalous business of exporting idols, golden ornaments belonged to the temple property. As long as TMK party was in the rule, he could not be punished legally but once the government changed, the CBI arrested him and a new committee was formed. The Trustee Members appointed a middle aged Brahmin priest for the temple Being pious and god fearing, the Brahmin priest was doing his duties perfectly.

Baskar and Dr.Shyamala wished to worship in this temple. The location in which the Lalitha Devi temple was remarkable in many ways: a surging crowd was always moving up and down the main road morning till night. A variety of trades and occupations was represented all along the way.: Ayurveda, Unani etc. medicine sellers, sellers of stolen hardware and junk, magicians, and above all auctioneers of cheap cloth to variety of household things, who created enough din all day to attract the whole town made this area of the town hectic.

Dr.Shyamala was ravishing in her Morning Dress, Maxi dress devoid of dupatta while Baskar was in his black pant and full sleeved white shirt. They went by walking to the temple and bought the necessary items such as garland, rose garland, coconut, banana fruits, camphor, Ghee bottle, wicks, incense sticks, betel leaves with betel nuts.
