‚Äč In the card was a picture of her neighbor and Butch. He was a two year old brindle boxer. He loved to play fetch, chase his owner's cat Tommy around the house. If she had stayed home she would be spending most of time over there but then she would be yelled at by her mother's boyfriend to either fix him something to eat, or get him a beer, or go get him his drugs. He was such a low life. He didn't work and there was no reason that he couldn't have. He thought .that all women was there to service him in one way or the other. He didn't call Lilac's mother by her name it was either his sugar momma or a bad name if she told him that she didn't have the money to support his bad habits. Before leaving she asked her neighbor to watch out for her mother
