“I’m coming,” Katie said.

Katie McClanahan carried herself confidently. Short-cropped red hair and blue-green eyes made those who saw her for the first time think she was Irish. But, all she had to do was speak and everyone knew she was born and raised in the south. She climbed the oak staircase leading from the end of the hall near her study. “What’s got you so excited?”

“See? Look at my flower!” she said, pointing at the flat screen monitor.

It was the most detailed drawing of a daisy that she had ever seen. She sat in Abbey’s chair stared at the flower. It was then she realized the lines were actually tiny numbers and symbols.
