There was one older lady who was homeless and harmless that had snucked into a motel room because she had no other place to go While they were setting up a permanent place for her she spent a couple of weeks at the house of promise and the motel still wanted her prosecuted and filed charges on her. She was in front of Judge Reynolds and the motel's lawyer argued that anyone else would be made to at least serve some kind of a sentence for at least six months . Judge Reynolds sentenced her to the House of Promises for the six months. She reminded Amelia of her grandmother which she deeply missed.

Then there was Annabelle who didn't mean to run over a pedestrian while driving and texting. The man was going to survive and she too felt very sorry for her stupid mistake of answering her cell phone while driving. She was only sixteen and the man's family wanted her to be charged as an adult so she also was ordered to come to the House of Promises for two years on the second Chance Program.Amelia became friends with her and told her if she did everything that they sat up for her she would be fine. At least her parents still loved her and didn't hold it against her.
