Part 1

What the hell was I thinking?

The girl covered her ears as sat in the corner of an empty room, her lumpy knees drawn up underneath her chin. Her long hair, once a radiant brown-mahogany, was now a lifeless mud-brown, its wiry strands entangled amongst one another. Her cheekbones showed underneath her pale, dry skin, and dark bags sat underneath dull eyes, which had seen too much suffering over the years. The only piece of clothing she wore was a white gown, which hung loosely over her cadaverous frame, and white slippers that were one size too big for her.

She buried her face into her knees, tears once again running down her cheeks.

"That's the thing. You weren't thinking, Zara."
