Their marriage was a love-marriage. When they were studying in the Vivekananda College, they loved each other and when Veerapondy came to know that her lover, Selvam was a close relative to his family, readily agreed to their marriage and took immediate steps for their marriage.Selvam’s father was a business magnet and was very rich.

He had political influence also.

Both Apsara and Selvam were friends from their high school period and both were as stupid as goose in studies. Both were of equal age and very poor in studies. They used to play truant both in School as well as in college. They passed the Twelfth Standard Examination, (Tamil Medium) with just border marks. Both were not eligible for joining either Engineering College or Medical College. So they joined Vivekanandha College, (Arts Group)
