Part 7

Elaina had finally been discharged from the hospital, now resting under the soft, cool sheets of her own bed. A knock upon her bedroom door caught her attention.

“Come in.” Elaina said.

The door swung open. She could hear heavy footsteps of boots. She pretty much guessed it was her childhood friend Michael.

“Elaina…” Said the man, his voice deep and velvety.

“Michael? Is that you?” She asked just to be sure.

“Yeah, how are you feeling?” He asked with concern.

“Could be better.” She responded with a sigh.

Elaina frowned, wishing she could gaze into those calm forest green eyes of his. He had always been quite handsome with those beautiful eyes and his dark Auburn hair. Michael was big boned, naturally built. He seemed to always make her feel small with his large frame, standing a good few inches taller than her. A hand touched her forehead, large and rough, but also gentle and warm. It soothed her and made her relax. Reaching up, she covered his hand with her much smaller one.
